Spar Girona officially announces the incorporation of Pere Puig as the club’s new sporting director. This decision is part of the structural changes that the club has been implementing this summer, with the aim of continuing to consolidate the sporting project and strengthen the team’s structure for the coming seasons.
Pere Puig, who has already had an outstanding career in the club’s organization, takes on this new challenge with the ambition of continuing to grow the team and maintain it among the elite of European women’s basketball.
Pere Puig, sports director of Spar Girona, has assessed his return to the position: “With the request made to me by the board of directors, I accept the challenge of becoming the club’s sports director again. Roberto’s request that Laia be part of the coaching staff left this possibility open. After going around with the club, we decided that I would take on this role again. I have not been disconnected and have been collaborating with Laia. Therefore, since June, when we already knew all this, I have been carrying out this task a little without the appointment. I feel very involved in the project as it could not be otherwise. Happy to be back.”
It should be remembered that Laia Palau, former sports director, leaves her position to join the coaching staff as assistant to Roberto Íñiguez. Her involvement with Uni Girona is fundamental, now in a new role that will allow her to take advantage of her extensive experience on and off the court.
